Privacy Policy

How Favourz protects your data and your rights under the UK GDPR.

1. Who we are

Favourz is a UK-based service marketplace that connects customers with local service providers. This policy explains how we handle your personal data when you use our website, onboarding site and apps.

For the purpose of the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, Favourz is the data controller of your personal data. You can reach us with any privacy question at privacy@favourz.co.uk.

2. Data we collect

Account data: your name, email address, password (stored only as an encrypted hash), role (customer or service provider), and profile photo if you add one.

Business data (service providers): business name, contact details, services and products offered, prices, opening hours, areas covered, and optional insurance or credential documents you upload.

Booking and payment data: favours posted, offers made, bookings, completion PINs, wallet balances, transactions, and payment card details processed on our behalf by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.

Location data: with your permission, an approximate location used to match you with favours and providers near you. You can withdraw permission at any time in your device settings.

Communications: messages between you and other members, and notifications about bookings, payments and account activity.

Technical data: device type, browser, IP address, and cookie/local-storage identifiers used to keep you signed in and keep the app secure.

Usage data: pages you visit, buttons you tap, searches you make, and questions you ask our support assistant. When you are signed in this is linked to your account so we can improve the service and help you if something goes wrong.

3. How and why we use your data

To provide the marketplace (contract): creating your account, showing your profile, matching favours with providers, taking and holding payments, releasing earnings, and resolving disputes.

For safety and legal compliance (legal obligation / legitimate interests): verifying accounts, preventing fraud, enforcing our terms, and meeting tax, accounting and consumer-law requirements.

To improve Favourz (legitimate interests): analysing usage and booking activity in aggregate to make search, matching and the booking flow better.

To send service communications (contract): booking confirmations, payment and completion updates, and important account notices by email and in-app notification. Marketing emails are only sent with your consent, and every one includes an unsubscribe link.

4. Lawful bases

We process your data under the following UK GDPR lawful bases: performance of a contract with you; compliance with our legal obligations; our legitimate interests in running and securing the marketplace; and consent, where the law requires it (for example marketing emails and optional location access).

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time — for example by turning off location permission in your device settings or unsubscribing from marketing emails.

5. Who we share data with

Other users only as needed to run the marketplace: your first name, photo, review ratings and service details may be visible to other members. Provider contact details are only shared once a provider has accepted a booking.

Service providers acting on our behalf (data processors): Stripe for card payments and payout; our cloud hosting, email and authentication providers for hosting, sign-in and notifications. They may only use your data to provide their services to us.

Authorities and professional advisers where the law requires it, or where necessary to protect Favourz members, respond to disputes, or prevent fraud and illegal activity.

We never sell your personal data, and we do not use your location or contact details for advertising.

6. How long we keep data

Account and profile data are kept while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your profile, personal details, photos and reviews. Completed booking and payment records are kept in anonymised form where the law requires us to keep financial records.

Booking, payment and wallet records are kept for up to six years after the transaction, as required by UK tax and accounting law. Messages may be kept for up to six years where needed to resolve disputes.

Marketing consent records are kept for as long as needed to evidence that consent, and deleted promptly when you unsubscribe.

7. Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate data; have data erased; restrict or object to certain processing; obtain a portable copy of your data; and withdraw consent at any time.

You can manage most of this yourself — update your profile and role, download what you need, or delete your account from Profile → Settings. For anything else, email privacy@favourz.co.uk and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) at any time. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first, so please contact us before raising a formal complaint.

8. Security and international transfers

Your data is protected with encryption in transit, access controls and row-level security, so only you can read your own records. Provider contact details stay hidden until a booking is accepted.

Our service providers are based in or transfer data to countries outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on UK-approved safeguards such as the UK international data transfer addendum or adequacy decisions.

9. Children

Favourz is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Favourz grows. Material changes are announced in the app before they take effect. This policy is version 1.0, effective from today's date.
